Excessive Sweating Treatments (Hyperhidrosis)

Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) can be a very embarrassing problem and leave your social life in ruins not to mention ruining your clothing.

Lifestyle can be a major factor contributing to excessive sweating. Things like spicy food, heavily salted food, and stress can add to the increasing problem of excessive sweating.

Loose fitted cotton clothing and good hygiene can help to improve the problem. For some people however, this is not enough to prevent excessive sweating. Even the wide range of anti-perspirants freely available may not be enough.

Excessive sweating affects around 1% of the population and with this being a growing problem more and more people are choosing to take medical aesthetic sweating treatments.

Please note that treatment prices are subject to change and can vary depending on factors attributable to the treatment area, condition of the skin and difficulty of the procedure.

How does the treatment work?

Hyperhidrosis is caused by the over activity of eccrine sweat glands in the skin. The eccrine glands exist in various concentrations throughout the skin. The eccrine glands are concentrated in the palms, soles and underarms (axille). Each person has 2-4 million eccrine glands in their body. This treatment helps to prevent over stimulation of the sweat glands which cause a person to sweat excessively.

How is the treatment performed?

Before treatment a thorough medical history will be taken to eliminate possible medical causes. Once the Doctor is satisfied that treatment can proceed, the medication is injected into the skin using a micro needle. Tiny amounts of purified botulinum toxin protein are injected into the affected area in a grid like formation.
