How does it work?

Hyperhidrosis is caused by the over activity of eccrine sweat glands in the skin. This condition occurs in around 1% of the population. The eccrine glands exist on the various concentrations throughout the skin. The eccrine glands are concentrated in the palms, soles and underarms (axillae). Each person has 2-4 million eccrine glands in their body. This treatment helps to prevent over stimulation of the sweat glands causing a person to excessively sweat.

What is the procedure?

A micro needle is used to inject tiny amounts of the medication into the affected area in a grid like formation.

Where is the treatment used?

The treatment is most commonly used to treat excessive sweating in the armpits, soles of the feet and the palms of the hands.

How quickly will I see the effects and how long will they last for?

Normal activities can be resumed just 2 hours after the treatment and the effects of the treatment will become noticeable over 3-4 days following the treatment. The effects of the treatment last within the region of 6-9 months following the procedure.

Does it completely stop sweating?

The treatment does not completely stop sweating, this is unrealistic. It has however been noted that the treatment dramatically reduces the amount a person sweats.

Does it hurt and are there any side effects?

The procedure is carried out using a micro needle, this minimises the pain that may be experienced.
